Boat ownership opens up a never-ending world of excitement and opportunity to escape the humdrum of everyday life. Whether you are exploring uncharted waters, having a leisurely cruise or just relaxing and enjoying the beautiful scenery, the opportunities to capture those magic moments are endless.
MDL have teamed up with Towergate Insurance to give you an opportunity to showcase your photographic skills and help you remember the amazing moments of 2024. We are launching a photographic competition with four monthly themes so there is something for everyone! Each month the Towergate panel of judges will select the winner and they will receive £125 of Otium points to spend at your chosen MDL marina.

How to enter
Choose your theme, take your photo and submit it before the end of the relevant month. The monthly themes for the prize draw are:
June – MDL Marina Life
Share your MDL Marina moments with us. Whether you’re marvelling at the marine life, socialising with friends on your boat, or enjoying a meal at the on-site bar and restaurant, we want to see your good times. Capture and share your MDL marina experiences.
July – Pets on Board
Embarking on your nautical travels with pets on board can be a fantastic and fun experience. Why not share these special moments with your beloved animals?
August – Water Life
Showcase your boat and capture the adrenaline rush when you are out in the open waters. Whether it’s admiring a pod of dolphins, or experiencing the thrills and spills of boating, let your photos illustrate the excitement and adventure.
September – Best Marina Sunset
Whether you’ve dropped anchor in a secluded bay or are relaxing at the marina after a great day on your boat, why not capture a breathtaking sunset to remind you of the surrounding beauty?
Choosing the winners
On the last day of each month the competition closes at 23:59. One winner will be selected by a panel of judges within Towergate Insurance and will receive £125 of MDL Otium points.
We will also share the winning images on our social media!
Competition dates
Entries for the first photo category open on 1st June 2024 and close on the last day of each month at 23:59. The last category will close at 23:59 on 30th September 2024. Good luck!
Terms and conditions
This competition is open to all residents within the UK, aged 18 and above, excluding employees and family of The Ardonagh Group or any of its group undertakings, their families, agents or any third party directly associated with administration of the prize draw. Entries open on 10:00 GMT on 1st June 2024 and close at 23:59 GMT on 30 September 2024.
- There is a monthly theme from the 1st June to the 30th September and entries for each monthly theme closes at 23:59pm on the last day of the month and any entries after these dates will not be considered.
- The draw is free to enter and no purchase is necessary.
- You can make up to 5 entries each month and can enter every month of the competition.
- All entries must be submitted via the form hosted on the MDL website or via social media using the hashtag #MaritimeMoments and tagging both the MDL and Towergate Boat Insurance accounts.
- In submitting any imagery into this competition, you confirm and acknowledge that you own or have full permission to use it, and you grant us a licence to use it for MDL Marinas and Towergate Insurance reasonable promotional purposes.
- The winning entries will be selected by a judging panel made up Towergate Insurance representatives.
- The prize for each category will be £125 MDL Otium points to spend at your chosen MDL marina. To redeem the prize, the winner must be a member of MDL’s Otium scheme, which is free to join and enables members to earn points on MDL services and save on future purchases. Alternatively, if the winner is a Freedom Berthing member, the points will be converted to pounds and added as a credit to their account.
- We will arrange to send the prize within 30 days. If we cannot supply the offered prize, we reserve the right to offer gift vouchers for an equivalent value.
- The prize for the winner is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered.
- We will contact the winners through the medium in which they submitted their entry and they will have 7 calendar days to acknowledge their win and send address details for the prize to be sent to.
- The winners must agree to have his/her names and postal towns published in any post-event publicity.
- The promoter is MDL Marinas and Towergate Insurance and its announcement of the winners is final; no correspondence will be entered into.
- The promoter accepts no responsibility for entries not successfully completed due to a technical fault or reason of any kind.
- We reserve the right to withdraw or amend the competition at any time. Personal data supplied during the course of this promotion will only be processed as set out in our privacy policy, which can be found here.
- Participants are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions upon entry. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse entry, or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.
- Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
- The competition will be governed by English law and entrants to the prize draw submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
