OUTLINE DESIGN

Our years of experience in the marina industry help us to understand what customers want from a marina and, as operators, we know how to design a marina for efficient and safe operation. With a blend of skills covering engineering, marina and boat yard operations, finance, property and business, we understand most of the challenges facing a marina, boatyard or waterfront property development. That means we can quickly assemble a team with the correct blend of knowledge and experience to produce designs that address all the issues. But even with our experience, every marina is unique – as is what its developers or owners want it to be – so it’s important that we work closely with clients to understand the brief.

Having confirmed the brief, our design process begins by developing a number of credible options for each part of the design. We’ll evaluate these against criteria such as fit with the market, environmental sustainability, flexibility, or financial viability. Through this process, we are able to identify the best design option to present to you. We’ll then set about refining the design.

We use a mix of hand drawn sketches, mainly to develop ideas, and present our final designs as two dimensional Autocad drawings or three dimensional computer models. We are able to produce fully rendered 3D images from our designs.

Our designs are usually also accompanied with a design philosophy report which records the decisions made, and sets out design requirements for the next stage in developing the detailed design.
