WingTek is a green maritime technology and services company. We deliver to commercial ship owners the means to significantly reduce fuel costs, pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions using our patented and innovative wind-assist auxiliary propulsion system.
WingTek was founded by a team of experienced sea captains, wingsail designers and system engineering experts, with long-standing expertise not only in the design and construction of wingsails but also the piloting and operation of wingsail-equipped commercial vessels The company has a strong set of partnerships with research, engineering, manufacturing and standards organisations.
WingTek offers a mechanically simple, rugged, low-cost ‘smart’ Wingsail design, designed to meet all Colregs requirements and aimed from the outset at automated, high-volume production and mass deployment. The WingTek system is initially targeted as an easy-to-install retrofit system for existing vessels, saving fuel, costs and reducing carbon emissions immediately. However WingTek’s roadmap anticipates the increasing role of wind assistance for auxiliary vessel propulsion in the future as new, purpose built ships are designed and enter service.
The WingTek Wingsail design is a proven, free-rotating, aerodynamically-steered rigid Wingsail in single, double or triple-aerofoil configurations.
WingTek integrates its proven wingsail with a sophisticated embedded processing and IoT control system backed-up by a cloud-based ‘digital twin’ architecture. The ‘real-time’ link between each WingTek Wingsail and the core database enables sophisticated data analysis and data-based business strategies to be deployed. These include extensive behavioural modelling, preventative maintenance, ongoing operational optimisation of the control system and even flexible new business models, further easing the transition to low-carbon transport strategies for shipowners.
