Marina Manager
Debbie joined the Hythe Marina team as the administrator in 2019 before being promoted to the position of Manager in early 2024. She is the mainstay of the operation, and always willing to help. Whilst not at work, Debbie enjoys photography, art and is a keen car enthusiast.
Night Lock Keeper
Doug joined MDL in 1997 at Hamble Point, having previously worked at an independently owned marina. He transferred to Hythe Marina in 2001. During his time with MDL he has served on working groups and provided relief cover at other MDL marinas, and as such he has visited most of the other sites. His previous employment included working in property management and he enjoys sailing, classic car ownership and local cruising in his small hovercraft.
Lock Keeper
Gary Joined Hythe Marina in 2002 and has enjoyed the marine environment ever since. After nearly 20 years with MDL, he is a well known face to the many Residents & Berth Holders he serves. In his spare time Gary is very much of the sporting variety especially his first love, football. As part of Towergate’s Marina of the Year 2021 awards, Gary won the prestigious Employee of the Year award for the great work he carries out at Hythe Marina.
Marina Operative
Katherine has worked as a Marina Operative since the summer of 2022. She has RYA qualifications she would like to put into practice more often with her sailing and powerboat background. She has enjoyed working in the marina having taken a break for some years. She can be found testing the local wine at the weekend after enjoying long walks in the country with her family.
Yard Hand
Luke has worked for MDL since 2005 and has a great knowledge of all operations associated with the boatyard.
Lock Keeper
Mike has worked at Hythe since 2006 doing various roles, but is now one of our two daytime lock keepers. When not working, he can normally be found on the golf course or in his garage whittling.
Yard Hand
Paul has worked for MDL since 2005 and enjoys “lifting and moving stuff”. A keen mariner himself Paul is fortunate enough to own and operate a RIB and a Sports Caddy.
Marina Operative
Peter has worked for MDL as a Marina Operative since May 2021. He is a qualified RYA Instructor and former Petty Officer of the Royal Navy Reserve. He lives in the New Forest with his wife Wendy and their black Labrador named “Bosun”.
Marina Operative
Ryan joined the team in 2024 as a Marina Operative, bringing with him a strong maritime background from nine years at sea. During that time, he earned a variety of RYA and MCA qualifications, showcasing his dedication to the industry. A New Forest local, Ryan enjoys staying active in his free time. In the winter months, however, you’re more likely to find him on the Canadian slopes, indulging his passion for snowboarding.
Night Lock Keeper
Sandor has been working for MDL since 2013 through Manpower on various sites such as Hamble Point, Port Hamble, Mercury Yacht Harbour, Saxon Wharf, Shamrock Quay and Cobb’s Quay. From July 2019 he’s been working for Hythe Marina as Night Shift Lock Keeper.
He gained extensive experience in software development, banking, international trade and road construction projects.
