Oyster Yachts - 50th Anniversary

We’re not the only ones turning half a century this year! Our Saxon Wharf tenant Oyster Yachts is also celebrating its 50th Anniversary.

In 1973, a 34-foot prototype cruiser racer UFO II was launched. Design by Don Pye of Holman & Pye and built in Wroxham, Norfolk, it laid the foundations for the stunning bluewater cruisers Oyster Yachts creates today.

Fifty years on, with facilities in Southampton, Ipswich, Wroxham and Hythe in the UK, as well as centres in Spain and the USA, Oyster Yachts has just added the award-winning 495 to its fleet of next generation luxury sailing yachts.

We delighted to be sharing our 50th Anniversary celebrations with MDL, a company which has played such a strategic part in our company’s development as we started to build the larger yachts in our fleet. Congratulations to everyone at MDL on reaching the golden 50-year milestone – an amazing achievement, and here’s to the next 50 for both of us.
