Highlights at Northney Marina: News and updates for our customers

As we reflect on a fantastic year — one that saw Northney Marina nominated for Marina of the Year at the British Yachting Awards — we’d like to take this opportunity to highlight some of the key improvements we’ve made and share our plans for an exciting year ahead.

Marina Improvements

This year, we focused on enhancing the marina experience for our berth holders:

  • Dredging: In February, E-F and the main fairway were dredged to their desired depth, improving access around the marina basin and supporting our aim of providing all-tide access for most boats.
  • Pontoon Upgrades: We replaced several piles to strengthen our pontoon infrastructure, upgraded two landing platforms, and extended several fingers. Our dedicated teams, including our Yard Operatives, worked tirelessly to launch and lift pontoons, crane bridgeheads, and install connecting pontoons, ensuring access was maintained during the works.
  • Sustainability: In May, we installed solar PV units on the Marina Office, Mallard, and Teal buildings. These are already generating a significant amount of renewable energy, furthering MDL’s mission to be the UK’s most sustainable marina operator.

Looking ahead, we’re excited about some major improvements planned for the new year:

  • Marina Office Extension: The new extension has seen significant progress over the past few months and is expected to open early next year. We have several prospective tenants interested in the two available offices, which will provide additional services for our berth holders and visitors. We hope to announce plans for our third, larger space early in the new year. It has been wonderful to hear how seamlessly the new extension integrates with the existing building, creating a modern, light and spacious facility.
  • New Boat Hoist: Our new, state-of-the-art, remote-controlled boat hoist will be arriving soon. This new hoist will allow us to lift boats more efficiently, safeguard against breakdowns, and avoid delays, enabling us to fulfil more lifts and launches each winter.
  • Convenience Shop: After listening to feedback, we’re delighted to announce the return of a convenience shop in 2025. Located in the Marina Office, it will offer a range of products from food and drink to boating essentials.

Building Our Community

Alongside these exciting improvements, we remain committed to delivering exceptional service and continuing to build our community through social events, the Trolley of Treats, and regular updates to keep everyone informed about marina life and upcoming events.

We hope you’re as excited as we are about the developments planned for 2025. Thank you for making Northney Marina your boating home—we can’t wait to see you in the new year.

Warm regards from the Northney Marina Team.
