Highlights at Shamrock Quay: News and updates for our customers
Firstly, a huge thank you to our amazing berth holders and everyone who has kept their boat with us or used our services throughout the year. You’re what makes Shamrock Quay such an amazing location.
Despite some unseasonal weather, it’s been wonderful to see so many of you out on the water over the past few months. During 2024, Shamrock Quay provided an incredible 3,462 berthing nights to visiting boats and delivered yard services to another 769 vessels.
With winter almost upon us, our team is busy lifting boats ashore and preparing the marina for the 2025 season. But before we welcome the new year, let’s take a moment to look back at some of the improvements, events, and services introduced in 2024, and share some of the exciting investments planned for 2025.
Making Your Experience Enjoyable
We love hosting events for our berth holders, and 2024 saw some exciting additions to our programme:
- Pimm's on the Patio made its debut and was a hit among attendees.
- Our popular Cheese & Wine Afternoon and the Tastes of the Mediterranean event also returned, much to everyone’s delight.
Our Trolley of Treats was back, starting in February with chocolates and prosecco. Over the year, we rolled out treats for every occasion, including Easter eggs, ice creams on sunny days, Danish pastries, and refreshments during major sporting events such as Wimbledon and the Olympics. Halloween was especially fun, with a week of ghoulish goodies! And we’re not done yet—throughout December, you can enjoy mince pies and mulled wine in the marina office.
We’re already planning our 2025 events calendar, so keep an eye on our events page on the MDL marinas website for dates and times.
Upgrading for Your Convenience
At the start of the year, we completed several major improvements to enhance your experience:
- Pontoon Upgrades: We replaced H to K pontoons with new ones, complete with piles, modern LED lighting, a new access bridge, and an improved access control gate at the top of the ramp.
- Car Park Improvements: New control barriers have been installed to alleviate parking pressures and ensure space is available for berth holders and guests.
- Road Resurfacing: Phase 1 was completed in record time, levelling the lower yard car park and boat storage area to eliminate puddles ahead of the busy winter storage season.
- New Land Acquisition: We acquired the Oil Spill Response land, formerly known as Millstone Point. This area provides much-needed additional boat storage in winter and overflow parking during summer.
Exciting Plans for 2025
Looking ahead, we’re gearing up for more upgrades and improvements:
- Dredging Programme: Starting in January, we’ll carry out extensive dredging to maintain a constant depth within the marina.
- Pontoon Upgrade: Pontoons E, F, and G will be redecked ahead of the season.
- Enhanced Security: We’ll be adding more CCTV and upgrading site lighting.
- Phase 2 Resurfacing: Further improvements are planned for the lower yard.
