Ocean Village Marina Berth Holder News

We’d like to start off by saying a massive thank you to all our berth holders for keeping your boat with us this year.

It’s been a busy 2023 season and although the sunshine wasn’t always on our side, we welcomed plenty of visitors to the marina equating to over 2,200 visitor nights and 1,700 Freedom Berthing nights.

Here are some of our 2022/2023 highlights and a taste of what’s to come in 2024:

Fun and Events!

  • We kicked off the festive season with mulled wine, mince pies and a sing-along at Banana Wharf.
  • Supercar Shows became a regular event at the Harbour Hotel with berth holders given exclusive access to VIP hospitality as well as the chance to show off their own hot wheels.
  • Berth holder drinks on board Prolific were a highlight of another successful year of hosting the South Coast and Green Tech Boat Show.
  • Sangria Sunday – the dock office was packed with berth holders drinking their fill of Lauren’s special recipe Sangria.
  • Ocean Globe Race – what a pleasure to host the entrants of the race and provide the race village for everyone to enjoy including a berth holder drinks party with live music.
  • The Trolley of Treats made plenty of appearances, from Easter Treats to Father’s Day drinks, ice lollies and not to forget the Coronation cupcakes.

Awards & Recognition

We were delighted to win the award for ‘Digital Transformation’ at this year’s MDL conference, we hope you are enjoying the social media feed and newsletters.

We have scooped two nominations for the British Yachting Awards 2023 in the ‘Best Marina’ and ‘Best Event’ categories – a testament to the team’s hard work!

What’s New

Perhaps our most popular new team member, Mischa the Harris Hawk received a warm welcome and has been working hard to deter the seagulls from the pontoons.

We’ve negotiated more exclusive offers for berth holders to enjoy at businesses in and around the marina, remember to look at the MyMDL benefits section of our website.

The laundry was given a facelift and we installed two brand new machines that work using card payment technology.

Going Green

We’ve installed 14 new Electric car chargers on the site including by the Marina Office and Ocean Car Park.

Following a long career at our West Country marinas, Otter II has had a new lease of life with the installation of e-propulsion electric engines and is now our work boat.

The Sea Bin has been recommissioned and is working 24/7 to collect plastics and debris from the marina.

Investment

In July we shared the news that the south side of the marina would receive significant investment this winter and all boats would need to vacate to complete the work. A big thank you for all your cooperation with this project, we can’t wait to see the transformation and introduce the new self-serve electricity facility.

And Finally

With the season drawing to a close, you can rest assured the team will be here looking after your boat, protecting your asset 24 hrs a day while preparing for a fantastic 2024.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you once again for your continued support and we look forward to another great season ahead!
