Safely using the correct buoyancy aids and lifejackets

James Tudor-Williams from Force 4 Chandlery at Shamrock Quay in Southampton talks us through how to pick the best buoyancy aids and lifejackets dependent on the watersport of your choice. Freedom of movement is key, such as for kayaking and paddle-boarding, whereas impact vests are ideal for being towed behind a boat as extra clips won't result in bursting open when making impact with the water at speed.

Lifejackets can either be manually operated with a yellow toggle or automatic as denoted by a red toggle. James also talks about safety lines and the different requirements for your chosen pursuit, from using a small craft on a lake through to offshore racing miles from land.
