Maritime UK SOLENT

Overview

​Maritime UK Solent (MUK Solent) is a prominent regional maritime cluster organisation based on the central south coast of England. Established in 2019, it serves as a collaborative platform for maritime businesses, educational institutions, and public sector entities, aiming to promote the Solent region as a global leader in maritime excellence. The organisation focuses on three core priorities: championing the region's maritime sector, providing leadership to coordinate cross-sector activities, and fostering growth by attracting investment and creating job opportunities. ​

MUK Solent has been instrumental in securing significant funding and support for the region's maritime initiatives. In December 2024, it received £85,000 from the government's Maritime Cluster Development Fund to enhance investment and skills training in the area. This funding supports the organisation's efforts to engage young people in maritime careers, assist businesses in growth, and strengthen international collaborations. ​

To further its mission, MUK Solent offers a membership programme that provides businesses with opportunities to network, collaborate, and influence maritime policy. The membership tiers include Strategic Partner, Partner, Launchpad (for start-ups), and Associate, catering to organisations of various sizes and stages. Members benefit from access to events, industry roundtables, and the chance to participate in shaping the region's maritime future. ​

MUK Solent also recognises excellence within the maritime sector through its annual Maritime UK Solent Awards. These awards celebrate the achievements of local businesses and individuals, providing a platform for them to gain national and international recognition. Winners of these awards often progress to receive accolades at the national Maritime UK Awards, highlighting the region's significant contributions to the maritime industry. ​
